Planning the Wedding
Burckel’s decision to host her wedding at Grand Velas Los Cabos in Mexico was a deliberate one, following a whirlwind tour of ten potential venues over the course of two days with her mom. While each location had its own unique charm, it was the lush property of Grand Velas that ultimately won her heart, its perfectly bloomed bougainvillea, exceptional culinary offerings, and warm staff all contributing to its allure. The resort’s impressive package proved irresistible.
To pay homage to their New Orleans heritage, Burckel and Greg incorporated elements of the city into their celebration. A rousing Second Line procession, complete with colorful umbrellas and handkerchiefs, perfectly captured the lively spirit of the city they loved. As a poignant tribute to her late father, the grooms wore pins bearing his initials, a heartfelt nod to his memory that added depth and warmth to their special day.
The Venue
At Grand Velas, the ideal blend of intimacy and grandeur allowed the couple’s wedding dreams to unfold. The venue’s thoughtfully designed layout effortlessly accommodated all guests, generating a sense of unity among attendees. The picturesque white sand beach, opulent guest rooms, varied and exceptional dining options, and unparalleled hospitality all converged to create an atmosphere where the couple’s vision was brought to life with precision.
The Dresses
Burckel’s weekend wardrobe was an impressive display of versatility, as she effortlessly transitioned between four distinct outfits. Her first look, a bespoke dress designed by Pedram Couture, set the tone for the welcome party, before being upstaged by her stunning Alamour the Label gown at the rehearsal dinner. However, the pièce de résistance was undoubtedly her exquisite Galia Lahav wedding dress.
In a surprising turn of events, Burckel traded in her finery for a custom-tailored jumpsuit-turned-romper by Nadine Merabi, perfect for the after-party. Meanwhile, her groom complemented her with a custom suit from Fellow Menswear in New Orleans, which he also wore to the rehearsal dinner. Come wedding day, however, it was his dashing tuxedo that stole the show.
Couples Favourite Elements
As the couple exchanged their vows, the atmosphere was transformed into a whimsical wonderland. The ceremony unfolded like a dream, with surprises around every corner. A delicate twinkle tent, adorned with sheer draping and sparkling chandeliers, provided a mystical backdrop for the proceedings. And just when guests thought they’d seen it all, a surprise song lyric aisle revealed itself, weaving a spell of enchantment over the gathering.
Every detail had been meticulously crafted to create an unforgettable experience, setting the stage for the festivities that would follow. As the night wore on and the cocktail hour got underway, guests were treated to a dazzling array of attractions: a cigar roller, a kissing booth, a live cellist serenading the crowd, and a show-stopping red rose suspension bar that hinted at the unforgettable ’til death do us party’ theme waiting in store for the after-party.
