What inspired Gianna Grieco and yourself to collaborate on this shoot?
It’s been a memorable experience working with Gianna, whom I met at a conference in Greece back in 2021. As fate would have it, our paths were destined to cross again at another industry event in Switzerland, her home turf. With my newfound connections with international planners and vendors, I was eager to showcase more global work on my portfolio. I shared my creative vision with Gianna – a breathtaking snowy wedding shoot featuring highlights of crimson, wildlife, and a horse-drawn carriage.
And, as it often does, reality exceeded my expectations, delivering an even more stunning outcome in the picturesque mountains of St. Moritz.
Have you shot couples in this climate/ environment before? What was the experience like?
As I ventured into the Swiss winter wonderland, I was struck by the unique challenges that came with shooting in the snow for the first time. The melting lake and fleeting winter light required careful planning to capture the perfect shot. Despite these obstacles, the experience was made all the more enjoyable by the professionalism of our team and Gianna’s meticulous attention to detail.
Her dedication shone through in every aspect of the shoot, from the way she styled each scene to the very last detail. The result was a series of enchanting photographs that seem almost otherworldly, as if they’ve been plucked straight from a winter fairy tale.
What were some of your favourite elements and why?
The serene lake area we visited earlier in our journey is home to a unique spot where visitors can feed wild birds with birdseed. We discovered the perfect combination to coax the feathered friends onto the bride’s hand, resulting in enchanting photos of her conversing with her fine-feathered friends as if she were Snow White herself. This delightful experience left us grinning from ear to ear!
Returning to the scene, we found ourselves at the iconic Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, an extraordinary venue boasting vaulted ceilings reminiscent of a fairytale castle, perfectly suiting our vision and theme for this unforgettable celebration.
