Loura credits her female entourage for making the planning process a breeze, including her mother, who shares her keen sense of style, and sisters who were by her side every step of the way. She chose to approach the planning with an easy-going attitude, trusting her instincts and relying on her team to bring her vision to life. The wedding planner, Bibi Hayat, was thrilled to be working with Loura, whose unique aesthetic is all about being bold and creative.

This maximalist approach allowed for a more dramatic and memorable celebration. Looking back on the big day, Loura highlights some of her favorite moments, including her own entrance, which was met with a standing ovation from family and friends. The added touch of a video montage featuring her childhood self walking down the aisle as a bride-to-be brought tears to everyone’s eyes. Her husband’s dramatic entrance, flanked by his father, brothers, and other groomsmen, was another thrill.

And then there was the after-party, which Loura says is her absolute favorite part of the day. She made sure everyone was on their feet, dancing and having a great time – even providing comfy slippers for her guests to enjoy the celebration.

In a delightful twist, the couple’s big day unfolded at Kuwait’s stunning Grand Hyatt Hotel, where they had initially considered an alternative date and location. However, the universe had other plans. A scheduling conflict led them to shift their wedding date, coinciding with the hotel’s introduction of its newly opened ballroom as a wedding venue. The couple seized the opportunity, booking a tour of the hotel and its grand space.

As my mother and I scoured for designers, we knew we had found the perfect fit in Monsieur Saiid Kobeisy. The clincher was his stunning butterfly-inspired gown from his latest collection, dripping in gems. It was love at first sight, and we were convinced he could bring our dress vision to life.

During our meeting, Monsieur Kobeisy proved to be a sweetheart, eager to learn about our journey and understand our aspirations for the perfect wedding dress.

I shared with him my lifelong tradition of wearing a wedding dress on my birthday since childhood, and my desire for a grand, traditional Kuwaiti entrance. His face lit up, and he was thrilled to make my dreams a reality.

The finished product was breathtaking – a dress that felt like walking on clouds. The added surprise gems took it to the next level, providing an incredible sparkle I never thought possible.

It was the perfect wedding dress for the perfect night, with every detail reflecting our personalities.

To take it up a notch, we opted for a Swarovski bouquet instead of a traditional flower arrangement. This choice was pure genius, as anyone familiar with us knows that we adore anything sparkly, glittery, or crystal-encrusted. It was essential to incorporate my personality into the overall design, and Monsieur Kobeisy nailed it.

Advice To Future Brides

As the future brides-to-be prepared to walk down the aisle, they sought the advice of a wise expert. When asked for words of wisdom, she shared three valuable takeaways: first, she emphasized the importance of complementing one’s natural features with the colors and decorations chosen for the venue. In her case, she had fair skin and dark hair, so she opted for an emerald green backdrop to enhance her complexion.

Second, she advised that makeup artists and photographers should collaborate before the big day to ensure a cohesive look. By working together, the makeup artist can adjust their work according to camera settings, and the photographer will know how to tweak their settings to capture the best shots. Finally, she stressed the importance of self-care in the days leading up to the wedding, recommending that brides prioritize getting a good night’s sleep and eating well.

For those planning evening weddings, like many in Kuwait, she suggested indulging in comforting favorites like burgers and fries while getting ready – it might just make all the difference on the big day.
